About Us

Rabbi Mendel and Rivka Gurkov

Rabbi Mendel grew up here on the south shore in Oceanside. He has a passion for Judaism, history, and helping others. Rabbi Mendel traveled to Jewish communities throughout the world to learn about the many different ways in which Jewish poeple unite. After receiving his rabbinic ordination in Sydney, Australia, Rabbi Mendel moved back "home" to a place close to his heart, Rockville Centre.

Rivka grew up in Melbourne, Australia, where her family has resided for over four generations. A native Aussie, Rivka has a passion for traveling, education, and of course, vegamite.
Rivka has worked with special needs children and is completing a degree in education.

After marrying in Melbourne, Rivka and Rabbi Mendel moved to Rockville Centre to engage with the Jewish community, and enhance Judaism in RVC in any way they can!
